BEVERLY, Massachusetts – Endicott field hockey comes into the 2023 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) season as the preseason favorite as voted on by the league’s six field hockey head coaches.
The Gulls earned 34 points and four first place votes in the CCC Field Hockey Preseason Coaches Poll, which was conducted last week. The Gulls will look to capture their fourth CCC Championship in five years this season and return four All-Conference selections.
UNE secures a solid second seed in the poll with 32 points and two first place votes. Tied for third place is Roger Williams and Western New England with 21 points respectively.
Nichols (11) and Gordon (7) close out the 2023 poll.
CCC play is set to begin on Saturday, Sept. 16. The top five teams in the CCC regular-season standings at the end of the year will qualify for the 2023 CCC Field Hockey Championship Tournament. The No. 4 and No. 5 seeds will play a quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday, Oct. 31 for a chance to advance to the semifinals on Thursday, Nov. 2. The two semifinal winners will then compete for the CCC Tournament Championship on Saturday, Nov. 4 with the winner earning the league’s automatic qualifier into the 2023 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship.
