BEVERLY, Mass. — After capturing the 2024 CNE Women’s Soccer Championship, the Hartford Hawks look to go back-to-back as they enter their first season eligible for NCAA Tournament play in Division III. Gordon College, last season’s runner-up, will look to make a repeat appearance in the NCAA Tournament while multiple other schools look to make their run for a CNE Championship this season.
Curry College
Entering her third season in Milton, Coach Lindsey Garvey will look to bring the Colonels back to the playoffs, after missing them last year for the first time since 2019. Despite losing two All-CNE players in Sarina Michaud and Maddie Resendes, the Colonels bring back fellow third teamer in Mia Schena. Schena led the team with seven goals and 16 assists. The Colonels will also get Jovi Goldstein back from injury. A key player for the Colonels, she missed the final seven games of last season. Having graduated nine players from last year, many key contributors, the Colonels will look for some of their 13 freshmen to fill those roles. Curry will kick their season off when they host Mass. Maritime on Saturday at 1pm.

In her debut season,
Lauren Pien takes over as the fourth head coach in program history. The first-time head coach and 2016 Rochester grad was named to the
United Soccer Coaches "30 Under 30" program as one of the bright young stars in the industry, and most recently served as Rochester's Assistant Coach/Lead Recruiting Coordinator from 2022-25. During her tenure, the Yellowjackets made deep NCAA postseason runs, highlighted by 2023's Elite Eight berth. Senior defender Madeline Barbieri (Cranston, R.I.), senior midfielder Hannah Lord (Bedford, N.H.), and senior defender Michelle Donahue (Melrose, Mass.) have been named the captains of this season's squad. The experienced trio have played a combined 159 matches (87 starts) through their careers thus far.
The Gulls feature 13 freshmen on the 2025 roster. It is the largest incoming class for the women's soccer program since the 2021 season (14). The second-ranked defense in the Conference of New England (CNE) last season (.85 goals allowed per game) returns much of its core. Senior center back Chloe Bauman (Southington, Conn.) and senior outside backs Barbieri and Donahue highlight the defensive unit in the 2025 campaign.
The Blue and Green play eight home games and 10 road games this season. They play a stretch of four straight home games between September 20 - 30 (Suffolk, 9/20; Wheaton, 9/24; Hartford, 9/27; Southern Maine, 9/30).

Gordon College
Gordon posted a 10-6-5 overall record and a 5-1-3 mark in league action last fall. The Fighting Scots reached the CNE championship match and made their second-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament a year ago.
Eowyn Lapp earned a spot on the All-CNE first team as well as the United Soccer Coaches All-Region first team after racking up 21 goals and five assists.
Ava Forbes-Smith also collected All-CNE first team honors and All-Region third team accolades with nine goals and four assists.

The Wildcats return two of their top three scorers from a year ago in junior and 2023 GNAC Rookie of the Year Sophia Warburton (23 points) and 2024 GNAC Rookie of the Year Jamie Davies (19 points). Longtime head coach Chris Flint will look to 10 newcomers to replace all-conference performers Emily DeRoehn, Madison Sanborn, and Angelina Oliveira, and the Wildcats begin the season with junior Ava Vaughn (4-0-0 in 2024) and freshman Kyla Stamilio batting for the number one goalkeeping position.

Nichols College
The Nichols Women’s Soccer program heads into the 2025 season with a strong foundation of returners who are eager to be back on The Hill. Coach Angel Mogel returns for her fourth season behind the Bison bench and looks to build off the foundations of last season and a strong spring ball showing.
Nichols College leading scorer, Falyn Hunt, will headline the Bison’s roster, as she returns for her senior year after earning All-CNE Third Team honors in 2024. Captain Caroline Shields also returns to anchor the midfield after battling back from an injury that sidelined her last season. Coming off great rookie seasons, Summer Bruno and Alyssa Senecal will be huge assets on the field for the Bison. The Bison start their season at home on Friday, August 29th against Albertus Magnus College.

Roger Williams University
After reaching the CNE Tournament with a 9-5-6, 3-2-4 CNE record in 2024 under First-year Head Coach Katy LaBella the Hawks will look to improve in year two. Roger Williams posted a strong 5-2-1 record within the confines of Bayside Field. The Hawks will look for their first conference title since the 2017 season.
RWU returns CNE First Team goalkeeper, Coco Marrelli after a season in which Marrelli earned all 20 starts for Roger Williams, holding opponents to a 0.95 GAA, with 91 saves for a 0.843 save percentage. On the offensive end of the field, Mya D’Antonio and Julia Robbins return after both ranked in the top four in point scorers on the season. Kaitlyn Alagno will also look to make strides coming off a first-year campaign that saw her tally a pair of goals and an assist. In the back line, the Hawks see the return of Sarah Newman, Hope Bilkey, and Sarah Fogarty as they continue to build off of LaBella’s first season at the helm.

Suffolk women’s soccer found itself outside the six-team CNE playoff field a year ago with a 1-4-4 league ledger and a 7-4-6 overall record, despite opening the season with a program-best unbeaten streak of 5-0-1.

Ellie McDougall recruited nine players – seven true freshmen and two transfers – to add depth for Suffolk’s 19th varsity season that gets underway Friday, Aug. 29 at Rensselaer at 3:30 p.m.
University of Hartford
After an historic 2024 season, the University of Hartford women’s soccer team is back in 2025 with an eye on making the NCAA Tournament. The Hawks finished last season 16-3-2 and 7-1-1 in Conference of New England (CNE) play. The Hawks would earn the CNE Regular-Season Title, and after defeating Gordon College 6-0 on November 9th they would also claim the CNE Championship. Hartford, who was unable to head to the NCAA Tournament, hosted the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) tournament next defeating New Jersey City University and Springfield College to win its second-consecutive ECAC championship. Head coach John Natale returns for his 21st season however the roster will look vastly different in 2025 as five key pieces including a pair of All-Americans left the program. The Hawks top offensive returner is junior Kathleen Brush (Wethersfield, Conn.) who was recently named a team captain ahead of the season. Brush scored 13 goals in 2025 to go with eight assists with a lone game-winner. Brush will be paired with senior Rebecca Opdenbrouw (Vernon, Conn.) who produced 18 points for the second-consecutive season in 2024. On the defensive side, senior Sejal Johnson (Weddington, N.C.) will return as the top keeper for Hartford after securing nine shutouts in 2024 with a goals against average of 0.58. The Hawks have 17 regular season games on the schedule in 2025, with eight taking place at home. Hartford opens the season with a three-game road stand, starting at Clarkson University on August 29th.

The University of New England and 3rd-year head coach AJ Stueck -- last year's Coach of the Year -- are back at work following a regular-season runner-up finish (6-2-1) and a tournament semifinal appearance in 2024. Senior midfielder Karley Belisle was an all-conference first team pick last season, with seven goals and a league-best 12 assists. Senior forward Kylie Curtin and senior midfielder Brooke Pierotti combined equally for just as many assists -- Curtin had the team's fourth-highest point total of 18 one season ago, and was an all-conference third team selection. Also landing CNE honors last year was sophomore defender Amy Forrest, as the Rookie of the Year. In all, the Nor'easters have returned seven starters, covering all positions on the field.

Wentworth Institute of Technology
Just missing out on the postseason with a 5-9-4 overall record in 2024, the Wentworth Institute of Technology women’s soccer team seeks their first playoff appearance in three seasons in 2025. A season ago, the Leopards held on to an eight-game unbeaten streak in which they scored 25 goals. Under Head Coach Meredith Carey, who enters her ninth season at the helm, the Black & Gold return 22 letterwinners from last year’s squad, including All-CNE honoree Jordan Dahan, along with a talented group of eleven rookies looking to make an immediate impact. Among others returning include Lily Carlson, who placed second on the team in points a season ago, along with Bryce Bateman and Brianna Reid, both of whom placed among the top-six point getters for the Leopards last season. With a strong group of returning players that features seven seniors, along with an influx of youth among rookies and second-years, Wentworth looks to return to be a conference powerhouse in 2025. The Black & Gold open their season on Friday, August 29, at Lesley.

Western New England University
Under the direction of tenth-year head coach Kristin Hensinger, the WNE Women’s Soccer team looks to capture its fifth consecutive double-digit winning season. The Golden Bears have won ten games in back-to-back seasons after completing last season with a 10-4-6 overall record and a 5-2-2 conference record. The Golden Bears graduate many starters but do return their leader in points and goals from the 2024 season, Liza Pinette, who scored five goals and accumulated eleven points for WNE. Gabby Sansone also joins Pinette in the attacking half of the field, having scored two goals and helping with one assist in eight games played last season. Midfielders Emma Withington and Ella Lupo will look to help turn defense into offense this season. Withington played in eleven games as a first-year student-athlete and notched an assist. Lupo played in ten games last season and picked up three shots in those games. Sophomores Tess Chevalier and Abigail Alicandro return to anchor the defense for the blue and gold. Alicandro also showed flashes on the offensive side of the field by contributing a goal during the final regular-season game of the 2024 season. The Golden Bears add twelve incoming student-athletes to accompany the returners and look to help the squad quickly during the 2025 campaign. The team will get started
on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 4:00 PM, when they welcome WPI to Springfield, Massachusetts, and Suprenant Field.
