BEVERLY, Mass. — Julie Beer, Commissioner of the Conference of New England, has been selected to serve on the Board of Directors for Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Sociaety that recognizes collegiate student-athletes who excel both academically and athletically.
Chi Alpha Sigma, founded in 1996, honors college student-athletes who maintain high academic standards while participating in varsity athletics at their respective institutions. The organization includes chapters across NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, and two-year colleges nationwide.
Beer’s appointment to the Board of Directors reflects her longstanding commitment to student-athlete success, leadership development, and academic excellence throughout collegiate athletics.
“I am incredibly honored and excited for the opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors for Chi Alpha Sigma,” said Julie Beer. “Chi Alpha Sigma plays an important role in recognizing student-athletes who embody excellence both academically and athletically, and I look forward to contributing to an organization that so strongly reflects the values and priorities of collegiate athletics."
As Commissioner of the Conference of New England, Beer has helped lead the conference through a period of strategic growth and innovation while emphasizing the holistic experience of Division III student-athletes. She took the post on January 5, 2026 after serving as the Associate Commissioner/Senior Woman Administrator for one year. Beer joined the CNE back in January of 2025 as the league’s Associate Commissioner/Senior Woman Administrator. In the role, Beer had oversight over Conference sport administration and championship operations while liaising with the Conference’s senior woman administrators. She was also in charge of crafting recommendations to the athletic directors as they relate to the strategic vision of the league and implementing them accordingly.
“Julie Beer’s leadership as Commissioner of the Conference of New England brings an invaluable perspective that will undoubtedly strengthen Chi Alpha Sigma’s mission,” said Kellen Wells-Mangold, Executive Director of Chi Alpha Sigma. “Her deep commitment to the holistic success of student-athletes makes her an excellent addition to our Board of Directors as we continue to champion academic and athletic excellence. I look forward to working with her, and our other Board members, as we continue to move Chi Alpha Sigma forward.”
Beer joins the Chi Alpha Sigma Board at a time when the organization continues to expand its national footprint and commitment to celebrating achievement in academics, athletics, leadership, and service among collegiate student-athletes.
“Division III athletics is rooted in the belief that the student-athlete experience extends far beyond competition, emphasizing academic achievement, leadership, service, and personal growth. Those values align perfectly with the mission of Chi Alpha Sigma, and I am honored to join the Board of Directors to help continue recognizing and celebrating student-athletes who excel in all aspects of their collegiate experience,” Beer added.
