CCC Announces 2022 Women's Volleyball All-CCC Teams
WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL ALL-CCC HISTORY
BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) announced its 2022 Women’s Volleyball All-Conference Teams and major award winners Tuesday afternoon. Eight of the 10 CCC schools were represented on this year’s list. Endicott had the most honorees with six selections.
Among those selected for the Gulls was graduate student Amanda Gilbert (West Falmouth, Mass.) who took home this year’s top on-court prize as the CCC Player of the Year. Suffolk and Wentworth student-athletes were also the recipients of major awards as Rams senior Kenzley Bell (Lake Park, Ga.) as name Libero of the Year and Leopards freshman Riley Schoonmaker (Montgomery, N.Y.) was selected as the Rookie of the Year. Western New England’s Sarah Scott (Granby, Mass.) was the last student-athlete to take home hardware as she was named the 2022 CCC Scholar-Athlete. Gordon’s Sue Kelly was the CCC Coach of the Year and Curry won the Team Sportsmanship award.
Voting for the All-CCC Teams and major awards was conducted by the 10 CCC head women’s volleyball coaches following the conclusion of the regular season and do not take postseason play into consideration.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Amanda Gilbert, Endicott
Gilbert was an intimidating presence for Endicott on the attack this season. She was the league’s second-best scorer at 4.2 points per set and topped the leaderboard at 4.6 points per set in conference play. Many of those points came on her 325 kills, which ranked second in the CCC. Her 3.57 kills per set average led the conference. Gilbert also finished in the top 10 in the conference in hitting percentage, producing a .271 mark. She also averaged 29.0 digs per set and recorded 38 total service aces. Gilbert had double-digit kills in 16 matches, peaking at 20. She also had 15 double-digit dig performances, resulting in nine double-doubles. She was named CCC Player of the Week four times (weeks ending Sept. 11, Oct. 2, and Oct. 9, plus Championship Week).

LIBERO OF THE YEAR
Kenzley Bell, Suffolk
Bell was a strong defensive presence for Suffolk this season, leading the league in total digs at 381 and ranking second in the conference in digs per set at 4.59. In conference play she averaged 4.68 digs per set to finish at the top of the leaderboard. Bell also finished eighth in the CCC in service aces, recording 43. She also had 82 assists on the year. Bell had double-digit pickups in almost every match this season and even recorded a double-double with 20 digs and 12 assists against Fisher. She was named the CCC Libero of the Week twice, in the weeks ending Oct. 2 and Oct. 16.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
Riley Schoonmaker, Wentworth
Schoonmaker found herself in the Wentworth starting lineup right out the gate in her rookie season. She started all 25 matches for the Leopards and played in all, but four sets. She was an efficient attacker, ranking seventh in the league in hitting percentage at .274, recording 109 kills in the process. She was also a presence defensively ranking third in solo blocks with 15. Schoonmaker recorded double-digit kills on two occasions and had six matches with seven or more finishes. She won one CCC Rookie of the Week honor, in the week ending Oct. 16.

CCC SCHOLAR-ATHLETE
Sarah Scott, Western New England
In addition to Scott’s strong play on the court for Western New England, she also put together an impressive academic resume. The health science major currently holds a 3.987 GPA and belongs to two academic honors societies. In addition to her lab-heavy major, she is also pursuing minors in both chemistry and psychology. She has spent the semester working in the neuroscience lab as part of a research rotation and received a faculty commendation for her work. She also spent last summer in a showing program for optometry. The two-time WNE captain plans to attend medical school after graduation to pursue a career in optometry.

COACH OF THE YEAR
Sue Kelly, Gordon
Kelly earns her second-career (2015) CCC Coach of the Year honor after leading Gordon to a share of the CCC Regular-Season Championship with an 8-1 CCC (14-13 overall) record. Her team produced five 3-0 sweeps during the regular season including one in CCC play. The Fighting Scots were also able to claim the No. 1 seed in the CCC Championship Tournament after defeating Endicott on the final day of the regular season. This season, Gordon led the league in hitting percentage at .228 and had a league-best 1027 assists. That offensive efficiency also placed Gordon in the top-30 in hitting percentage in all of NCAA Division III. Gordon also finished second in the CCC in blocking with 166 total blocks and 1.66 blocks per set. In league play, the Fighting Scots put down 12.7 kill per set, ranking them second in the conference.
