Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Awards Winners Announced

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) announced the 2023 men’s and women’s cross country awards winners on Wednesday.

At the CCC Championships on October 28, Roger Williams University won the men’s title with Suffolk University winning the women’s trophy. Hawks sophomore Nathan Tassey took the tape in the men’s 8K race, defending his title from 2022 and earning Runner of the Year. In the women’s 6K race, Gordon junior Rachel Brennan won her third-straight league title en route to a Runner of the Year nod.

The Rookies of the Year - Troy Silvestri of University of New England and Cailin Lawlor of Endicott College - finished second and fourth, respectively. Roger Williams’ Sean Livingston (men’s) and Endicott’s Spencer Lange (women’s) are the respective Coaches of the Year.

Gordon’s Colin McGinn is the Men’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year. He participated in a highly-competitive summer internship with the National Science Foundation at UNC where he researched bioaerosols before presenting his findings. McGinn is a three-time member of the Dean’s List, a two-time team captain and a three-time All-CCC performer. He’ll graduate this spring with a degree in biology (minor: chemistry).

Kelsee Gladu of University of New England is the Women’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
She’s a graduate student in the pharmacy program. She finished 12th at this year’s Championships and was the 2022-23 UNE Female Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), founded in 1984, is an NCAA Division III athletic conference composed of 10 full member and two associate member institutions throughout the New England region. Its membership aims to provide student-athletes with a positive experience in their pursuit of excellence through high academic standards, quality competition and a meaningful student life. The Conference administers championships in 20 intercollegiate sports.
