PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The sixth-seeded Endicott men's soccer team knocked off third-seeded Johnson & Wales, 2-0, in Saturday afternoon's CNE First Round action at Scott's Miracle Grow Athletic Complex.
Sam Cochran (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) scored his first goal of the season at the 5:54 mark after he one-timed a ball floated through the box by Ethan Nunes (Chattanooga, Tenn.) to give the Gulls the early lead.
The game remained a 1-0 nailbiter through the first half, as Endicott narrowly outshot the Wildcats 3-2 through 45.
Then, in the 81st minute, some chaos created by Sean Catino (Plymouth, Mass.) on the defensive end of the field created an open field opportunity for the Gulls, and it was once again the Nunes to Cochran connection that cashed in an insurance goal late.
The Blue and Green outpossessed the Wildcats in the final eight minutes to lock up the 2-0 road win and punch their ticket back to the CNE Semifinals.
Ethan Harrison (Sandy Springs, Ga.) recorded his fourth shutout of the season and improved to 5-2-1 with his two-save effort.
