BRUNSWICK, Maine. — The Endicott men's lacrosse team fell to No. 17 Amherst, 12-11, in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday afternoon at Whittier Field.
Tommy Tyksinski (Guilderland, N.Y.) led the Gulls offensively with four goals.
Thomas Barker (Needham, Mass.), Matt Cawley (Westwood, Mass.), Cam Fernandez (Mendham, N.J.), Nick Graap (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.), Brody MacDonald (Hanson, Mass.), Dillon Moriarty (Wilbraham, Mass.), and Curtis Redd (Amherst, N.H.) all scored solo tallies.
In goal, Christopher Tillotson (Monroe, Conn.) made five saves in the first half, while Teagan Alexander (Foxboro, Mass.) stopped six shots in the second half.
Trailing 6-3 at the end of the first quarter, the Gulls scored the first three in the second quarter to tie the game with 8:38 before halftime. Moriarty got the scoring started at the 10:01 mark as Barker found the back of the net 10 seconds later cutting the lead to one. Following a Tillotson save, Cawley knotted the game at six apeice. The Mammoths then scored the next two goals, but Graap then cut the lead to one going to halftime.
The two teams traded goals over the first 4:34 of the third quarter as Amherst took a two-goal lead but the Gulls fought back with goals by Tyksinki and Redd to tie the game heading the fourth quarter.
Another Mammoth goal was responded to by MacDonald's tally with 9:29 to play. After hard-fought defense on both side, Amherst found the eventual game-winner with 1:31 to play. After a faceoff win and timeout, the Gulls had several good opportunities to tie the game but the Amherst defense was able to hold on for the victory.

- The Gulls are now 2-14 all-time versus Amherst.
- Tyksinski tied his season high with four goals.
- Cawley, Nick DiSalvo (Narragansett, R.I.), and Jackson Hammersley (Lynnfield, Mass.) all tied the team-high in caused turnovers.
