BEVERLY, Mass. – First-seeded Endicott defeated second-seeded Wentworth, 17-5, to capture the first-ever Conference of New England (CNE) Men's Lacrosse Championship on Saturday afternoon at Hempstead Stadium.
The Gulls raced out to a 7-0 lead to start the game (12:16 – 3:44) and never looked back in the contest.
Endicott held a 14-3 advantage at halftime, and led by as many as 14 goals (4th, 17-3, 8:01) in the matchup to secure its 12th conference championship in program history (2001, 2004-07, 2010-11, 2015, 2017, 2021, 2024-25).
In a postgame ceremony, Gulls' senior attackman Cam Fernandez (Mendham, N.J.) was named the CNE Tournament Most Outstanding Player (MOP).
Fernandez tallied six points (1g, 5a) against Western New England in the semifinals and seven more points (3g, 4a) today versus Wentworth.
Offensively, Endicott also received a game-high four goals from Nick Graap (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.).
Thomas Barker (Needham, Mass.), Guerin Favreau (Woodstock Valley, Conn.), Ethan Cupples (Marshfield, Mass.), and Tommy Tyksinski (Guilderland, N.Y.) all buried two tallies, while Brody MacDonald (Hanson, Mass.) and Matt Wright (Oregon City, Ore.) had one marker apiece.
In goal, Teagan Alexander (Foxboro, Mass.) earned the start and made four saves to improve to 6-2 on the season.
Christopher Tillotson (Monroe, Conn.) locked up the second half with six saves.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Endicott is 30-3 all-time against Wentworth (27 straight victories, 18-1 at home in the series).
- Fernandez became the first student-athlete in program history to reach the single-season 100-point mark with an assist on Wright's tally in the second quarter (11:56, 9-1).
- Fernandez needed six points entering today's game to break Endicott Hall of Famer Kevin Lally's '06 record of 99 single-season points (2006, 22g, 77a).
- Barker finished the contest 18-for-25 at faceoff X and scooped up 13 ground balls; he is two ground balls shy of breaking Tommy Hughes' '17 career record of 753 (2014-17).
- Barker ranks first all-time in ground balls per game at 10.90
- The Gulls are 10-1 at home this season.
- Endicott defeated Wentworth 20-5 in their regular season matchup (season-low for goals).
