Hartford’s Crossen Earns Player and Rookie of the Year as CNE Announces Men’s Golf Awards

The Conference of New England (CNE) announced its 2026 Men’s Golf All-Conference teams and major award winners, with the University of Hartford’s Justin Crossen earning both Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors. The CNE Player and Rookie of the Year, and all-conference winners are based on their finishes at the CNE Men's Golf Championship.

Gordon’s Ethan Chevalier was named Scholar-Athlete of the Year, while Hartford’s Peter Stankevich earned Coach of the Year recognition. Both of these awards are voted on by the conference men's golf coaches' group.

Crossen captured the individual title at the CNE Championship at Blackledge Country Club, posting a five-under-par 139 across two rounds. He opened with a two-under 70 before closing with a three-under 69, the lowest score of the final round. Crossen was the only golfer to finish the championship under par, winning by five strokes while helping Hartford secure its second consecutive conference title.

Stankevich guided the Hawks to a 16-stroke victory, with Hartford following an opening-round 293 with a two-under 286 in the final round for a winning total of 579. Hartford placed three golfers among the top five, as Luke Olynick and Griffin Lalonde tied for fourth at 146 alongside Crossen’s first-place finish.

Chevalier earned Scholar-Athlete of the Year recognition for Gordon, which finished fifth at the championship with a two-round total of 610.

Hartford led the All-Conference selections with four honorees, including three on the First Team. Roger Williams placed three golfers on the All-Conference teams, while Endicott, Gordon and Western New England each earned two selections. Suffolk and Wentworth each had one honoree.

Crossen headlines the First Team alongside Roger Williams’ Reid Ohanesian, who finished second at even-par 144, and Western New England’s Kyle DeGroff, who placed third at 145. Olynick and Lalonde round out the First Team.
