Men’s Soccer Awards, All-Conference Teams Announced

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) announced the 2023 men’s soccer award winners and All-Conference Teams on Tuesday.

Gordon junior forward Benji Wright is the Offensive Player of the Year. During the regular season, he totaled 10 goals and two assists, including five goals and one assist in league play. Wright was involved in 57% of goals scored by the Scots. He led the league in points per game and collected two two-goal games.

Seniors Niall Shea (Roger Williams) and Casey Torres (Gordon) are the Co-Defensive Players of the Year. Shea started every Conference game at center back and paced the Hawks’ defense to four shutouts in CCC play. He scored one goal and led the team in assists with three. Torres led the team in minutes played (1338) and anchored the backline that allowed only 10 goals in 15 matches, leading the CCC in goals against per game (.67).

Roger Williams midfielder Dylan Thomas is the Rookie of the Year. He made 13 starts overall, including every Conference game, totalling three goals and two assists. On Oct. 10, he was named the CCC Offensive and Rookie of the week.

Western New England’s Devin O’Neill is the Coach of the Year. The Golden Bears captured the 2023 CCC Tournament title, defeating Roger Williams University in penalty kicks to secure their first league championship since 2016. WNE allowed just one goal in its final five games of the regular season.

Endicott’s Tiago Frazao is the Scholar-Athlete of the Year. He’ll graduate this spring with a degree in international business (minor: Spanish). He was honored as a CoSIDA/CSC Academic All-District performer, United Soccer Coaches Third-Team Academic All-America and Second-Team All-Region in 2022. On the season, he totaled nine goals and five assists with 11 of his points coming in league play.
