Brennan Concludes Historic Fighting Scot Career At Her Sixth National Championship

MEET RESULTS

Rachel Brennan, the most distinguished student-athlete in Gordon College Athletics' history, capped off her decorated Fighting Scot career at the DIII Outdoor Track & Field National Championship in Geneva, Ohio this afternoon with a second team All-American nod in the 5,000m run.

Brennan stepped onto the track for the second time during the Championship weekend today, as the senior battled against the 22 fastest runners in the 5k, less than 48 hours after earning All-America in the 10,000m on Thursday evening.

Out of the gun, Brennan began in 10th place before shifting her way up to the second pack to remain steady in the top-eight through the first 1800m. After pulling back in 18th for the last leg of the event, Brennan persevered to claim a top-15 spot (16:57.46) after a strong final lap (1:16.92).

With the results of this weekend's Championship, Brennan completed her own "Triple Crown" by capturing an All-American title in all three seasons during her final season of eligibility (November-Cross Country: 6k), (March-Indoor Track & Field: one mile), (May-Outdoor Track & Field: 10,000m; 5,000m).
